That ONE

Last night I was walking down a trail with a family whose grandmother was in a wheelchair. She started asking her grandson questions about who he was and what he believed. I turned to her and smiled because there was something about her voice. I felt like it was a voice I had heard before. Though I didn't recognize her I noticed how frail she was. I was also surprised that the wheelchair was basically rolling on its own. After her grandson responded, the rest of the family started answering the questions. They all had different answers. One thing kept true though; after each one of them answered, she would confirm that they were a child of God, blessed beyond belief.

I stepped out of the way so that they could pass me as I was carrying a pretty heavy item and I didn't want to be in the way. Only.. They didn't pass. They just kept walking with me. When we finally got off the little trail and started walking towards the rest of the people, I stopped and turned to the lady in the wheelchair and said "You know I just heard a sermon where the pastor had said, Our worth is not what we own BUT It is what we give away." She smiled and stopped and looked at me. I then said "You know I've never been preached to by someone in a wheelchair as I am walking down a trail." She smiled back again and said "Thank you for blessing me."

It's little moments like this that give me greater faith in how wonderful life is. We are such miracles yet when we spend so much time focusing on the wolves that we run into we miss the opportunities and the reasons for why we are here. Don't let this moment pass you by. Be that light in a world of darkness. You just might be that one that helps save that one.

Be there for that one, just as the person that was there for you, when you were that one.
